CAN I STILL FILE UNDER THE NEW BANKRUPTCY LAW?


The new Bankruptcy Code took effect October 17, 2005.

Although some changes have occurred it did not have the effect the credit industry had hoped for.

Most of our clients have not been effected by the enactment of this new legislation, other than having to complete the required Credit Counseling and Financial Management Courses and the fact that they have to submit six (6) months worth of paystubs to our office.

 

Debtors who fall under the New York State Median Income Requirement can still file a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. The dollar amount under the New York State Median Income varies according to family/household size.
